When you set out to make money online the first thing that you want to do is to try and add to the income you have already so that you can keep leading the same lifestyle and have some spare money left over at the end of the month. The thing a lot of people neglect to think about however is how they could get more from the money they already have. With a few tweaks to your monthly outgoings you can actually make the money you have go a lot further and give yourself that little boost in cash that could make all the difference to how you want to live your life. So here are a few ways to save on your every day bills.

Run Your Car As Cheaply As Possible

If you have a car and need it to get around you know how expensive it can be. You have to pay car tax, fuel prices, repair bills and usually the biggest expense car insurance. Learn to think of your car as a hole for your money and then you might start adjusting your attitude to it and try and make that hole smaller.

To spend less on fuel you need to be conscious of where you are buying it and also how you are using your car. This is where a little bit of maths can come in handy. Have a scout around your local area for the cheapest place to buy fuel and then calculate that against the distance from one of your normal driving routes. You don’t want to purposefully drive out of your way for cheap fuel when the fuel you use to get there costs you more than the saving you are making. Also try and take advantage of any offers or loyalty schemes when buying petrol, if you go at the right time you can save yourself a few pounds. The last point about fuel usage is to think about how you drive. If you think about the fuel as you drive and so change gear sooner you will use fewer revs and less fuel.

To save money on your car insurance the best way is simply to do a lot of shopping around. The more you look the more likely it is you will find the best deal and that can be massive for younger drivers or those who have a few points on their licence. Go to price comparison websites like www.carinsurance.org.uk and see if they can give you a better price. Also if you can afford it buy your yearly car insurance all at once and over all you will make a saving by not having to pay the interest on the monthly payments.

Shop Wisely

If you are shopping for large items for your home or little treats for yourself then the first question that you have to ask yourself is ‘Do I need this?’. The keyword in that sentence is need. When you have answered that question honestly to yourself only then go ahead and either sensibly walk away or consider what the best way to get that item is. Often in today’s market the cheapest and most sensible way to purchase large items is over the internet. Websites selling items have lower overheads because they don’t have to rent out a shop or pay any cashiers etc. Therefore they can usually offer the same items you would find on the high street but at a lower cost even with the postage and packaging.

When shopping for food on a budget then you need to consider all of the costs of doing that shopping. First look at where the shop is. If you have to drive 15 miles to get to a cheap shop then make sure that the drive isn’t going to cost you more than the saving in prices from walking to your local shop. Also take advantage of loyalty schemes, they will save you money in the shop or if you enjoy family days out they often have offers for you to pay for tickets to venues with points.

Do a Run Down Of All Your Bills

For this I am talking about all of your house hold bills. Go through them all and ask yourself some questions. ‘Do I use all of my minutes and texts?’ If not get a cheaper contract with less on it or even pay as you go. ‘Do I often go over my phone contract?’ Then you need to consider either cutting back or getting a contract with more minutes. ‘Do I watch all of the channels on Sky or would freeview be ok?’ I know sometimes you might like the choice but when thinking about saving Sky is quite an expense each month. ‘Am I using all of my download limit on my broadband or could I get a cheaper deal with less download limit?’. Broadband deals generally get cheaper the lower the download limit is and if you only browse the web and don’t do any downloading then you won’t need much at all.

Really the best way to save money every month is to adjust your attitude to your spending. Put some effort in trying to save money and you will find that you have made your paycheck stretch further than you thought it could.
