On the previous post i told you about ways in which you can get people to hear about your blog/website by writing online. This is not the only way to do advertise however. If you feel that writing is not the way forward for you then try putting up videos on your particular niche on youtube.com, dailymotion.com or flicklife.com. There are many others which i am not going to list here but if you want to find more go to http://chaos-laboratory.com/2007/08/30/top-31-free-alternatives-to-youtube-video-hosting-sites/. The advantages of using videos over things like writing articles are that most people are visual learners and watchers of your video should remember it better than if they read the information in an article. It can also help to show people more about your topic especially if it is an active or practical genre. for example if you are writing a blog about the perfect golf swing then it is much easier to show someone how to do it rather than tell them.
The most common video hosting website by far is youtube.com so that is the one i am going to focus on in this post. At the time of writing this post youtube is the 3rd most popular website in the world meaning millions of people a month look at it. One of the best things about this website is that you can put anything on there (so long as it isn’t anything unsuitable for children) and then you get to link that video to any other on the website so that your video can get seen by anyone watching the video you’ve linked it to. You can use this to your advantage in a few ways. 1) you can link your video to the most popular video on youtube. This can work but you run the risk of being moved through lack of relevance and also people may not want to watch your video because its not what they are looking for at that time. However your video link will be seen by the most people. 2) Link your video to popular videos that are related to your niche topic. This will ensure that more people who see the link to your video will want to watch it.
Things to remember when making and posting videos are that you should always add a link to your website/blog next to the video and in your profile and if its appropriate in the video itself. Give it a try and see how much extra traffic you get.
