How to Build a list and make money from it

The building of the list part is probably the easiest part of making money through long term customers. You can do it on a pre existing website that you have or you can create a simple one page website and drive traffic to that. Once the customer is there then you are going to need to give them a reason to want to put their name and email address in. This is usually done by offering something for free in exchange for their e-mail. To be able to do this you are going to need an auto-responder service and the one that i recommend is Aweber.com

Depending on who your target audience is you could offer them several different things. Generally i tend to offer ebooks to a beginner audience, usually something general about your niche or for the more experienced customers i’ve found it good to offer things like software that will help their established business along. These are slightly more specific to my niche but you get the idea.

Now that you have got a few subscribers the next thing you have to do is try and sell them your products. I would suggest that you don’t try and sell them something straight away. This could put off potential customers and they may never look at your emails again which means they won’t find out about any of your products. In the first couple of weeks send them useful information about how to get started on the with the service you provide so for example if you are doing a weight loss program then you should give them useful dietary or exercise advice for free.

Once you have done this for a little while then it is time to start offering the products that you have to sell. These could be your own products or affiliate products. try and fit the products in to the previous e-mails that have been sent so that it is a natural progression. This allows for a smoother transition between the getting friendly with your customers and selling them something. So to carry on the example of a weight loss program you might send them a message saying that if the techniques you have been telling them aren’t working as fast as they had hoped then they could buy your product which will help to speed up the process.

Try and make all of these e-mails short and sweet, people want quick and easy solutions to their problems and hopefully through these e-mails you can provide those solutions and consequently make money out of it.
