The short answer is yes but the long answer is much more complicated. I have been wrestling for the last couple of hours now whether to put this post up on this blog because it doesn’t really come under the category of a traditional way to make a sustainable income. Also I know that it can become very addictive. I don’t believe I have ever been addicted to online gambling, but I have some friends who have gone through phases of addiction and lost some money. Luckily none of my friends nor myself have seriously messed up due to this but it has caused some bad times.
After dealing with all of this in my head I still decided to put this up because getting into the wider world of making money online was first started off by enjoying some online gambling. I don’t really do any gambling any more because I prefer business and blogging but I did make a profit throughout and I got a nice second income from it. The reason I no longer gamble is because it was a very stressful thing to do. I used to get very anxious while playing and it is supposed to be fun. I enjoyed it at first but wasn’t winning much money because I just betting on what I felt like or in poker when I was feeling up for a risk. Then when I started to get anxious playing games I decided to relieve the feeling by setting up a set of rules before I started playing so that all I had to do was stick to the rules and this is when I started to make profit.
When you apply rules to gambling you will increase your odds of going away with a profit because gambling websites prey on people who bet for the feeling. The primary rule which you must stick to at all times is to have a cut off point as to when you are going to leave. This rule applies to poker cash tables, table games and slot machines. You must state BEFORE YOU START to your self how much money you have available for you to spend and if all goes well how much profit you want to leave the table with. If you disobey either of these rules that you set yourself then the casino wins. You have to put as much of the process in your hands as possible and not in the hands of the casino (who is after your money).
The next rule that I stuck to was I would put money into my casino account and then consider it spent money until it goes back into my bank account. This was at first to get rid of my anxiety about loosing money but then I realised that it was good for my gambling techniques as well. I meant I could stick to the rules I set for myself more easily within the game. For example when I play poker for cash I will only play if I have certain hands and I won’t take any un necessary risks. Now a lot of people wouldn’t want to play poker this way but for me it worked quite well and I would usually walk away with some winnings, especially in the slow games.
Also don’t go in and start at the high stakes games if you don’t have the money to do that. Start at the lower stakes games and then win the money to get up to the higher stakes games. Then you don’t have to withdraw from your real money bank account.
Basically my overall advise is to make rules for yourself before you start and stick to them. Turn the gambling as much into a mathematical thing as possible and try and shift the odds in your favour rather than in the favour of the casino. I will however remind you that this is only advice, you can and will loose some money doing this but I am trying to help you to minimize your losses and maximize your profits while using the casinos. People do make a very comfortable living through online and offline gambling but to do so you must be both skilled and lucky.
